JOSEPHINE T. PARRY

Ms. Parry currently serves as a volunteer Special Master for the County of Monterey, California.  She has been an active member of the California Bar for the past 42 years.

Ms. Parry began her legal career as a trial lawyer for the County of Santa Clara, California and was a partner in a San Jose law firm prior to entering the corporate world at Atari as a Corporate Counsel and was instrumental in completing the terms of the acquisition of the company from Warner Communications and in taking the company public.

​

Ms. Parry served as Vice President, Legal and Human Resources, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Tandem Computers Incorporated and continued her role through the acquisition and integration of Tandem by Compaq.  

​

Subsequent to her role as General Counsel for Tandem, Ms. Parry joined Novell Inc as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.  She had worldwide responsibility for Legal, Human Resources, Security, Anti-Piracy, Corporate Records and Shareholder Services.

Prior to joining Novell, Ms. Parry served as “Of Counsel” to Hanson & Peters, a Chicago, Illinois firm primarily representing Lloyds of London in Directors & Officers litigation in California.  She was also “Of Counsel” to Gunnison, McKay & Hodges, a patent prosecution firm in Monterey, California.

Ms. Parry was a frequent speaker and panelist for conferences that have included the State Bar Corporate Counsel, “Breaking Through the Glass Ceiling”; co-chairman for the Women’s Corporate Counsel Conference; co-chairman for the Intellectual Property Institute of Corporate Counsel, Law Department Cost Management & Governance Institute; Minority Counsel Conference, Mentium 100 Program; National Conference for Women Corporate Counsel, and a member of Tandem’s Executive Council in the Ford Foundation Project on Gender Equity and Work-Life Balance.

Ms. Parry holds a J.D. degree from the University of California, Hastings School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from San Jose State University.
